MRC GEM Training Opportunities and Requirements

MRC GEM offers training to help our volunteers learn to prevent and deal with emergencies affecting themselves, their families, and their communities.

Please click here for the current training schedule.

Most training sessions are held at the East Metro Health District, 2570 Riverside Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046-0897. This is at the corner of Riverside and Raco Place, just south of GA 316. Sessions normally begin at 9 AM and end by noon. Please park in the rear of the building and enter at the door next to the loading dock. We typically serve light refreshments, such as coffee, water, fruit, and pastry. Click here for a map and to get driving directions.

Once a volunteer has completed the prerequisites, the basic training sequence may be started. On completion, the volunteer is credentialed and prepared to participate fully in field exercises and emergency response.

Volunteers who have completed the basic training sequence may enhance their skills by taking any of the intermediate level courses. Those who wish to continue after completing the intermediate training sequence and, perhaps, aspire to a management position may take any of our advanced training offerings.
