Lynda Flage, MRC GEM's Vice President of Planning, announced today plans for a comprehensive training program.

Dr. Armin Ansari, one of our MRC GEM members who works for the CDC, gave a fascinating talk covering key radiation principles and radiological procedures.

The AMA Center for Public Health Preparedness and Disaster Response (CPHPDR) invites all interested members of the Medical Reserve Corps. to take the newly released electronic Core Disaster Life Support(tm) (eCDLS(tm)) course. The 4-hour course was developed with funding from the Department of Homeland Security and is offered at no charge.

MRC GEM held its first annual meeting since incorporating as an independent non-profit organization. The meeting, held at Rhodes Jordan park in Lawrenceville, was attended by a majority of MRC GEM members.

Gwinnett fire, police, public health, and homeland security and mall officials teamed up for the first time to stage a weapons of mass destruction drill to see just how well they'd do in a real incident involving a dangerous or deadly substance. This was also the first major field exercise in which MRC GEM participated.
